Arterias is a quiet man, a thinker. He prefers the relative solitude and ruggedness of the Northern Islands. This physically very large man, can be intimidating in a courtroom. “No nonsense” definitely applies to him. He can be painfully direct in his questioning and remarks, but that is often needed if a dispute is to be settled.
He is a central figure in the last third of the book. You can’t miss him.
