Welcome to my author’s page

Thanks for visiting my website.

It’s all about my ambition to become a traditionally-published author. In 2020, I added my novel, When the King is Evil, to Amazon. It’s not available now since it’s undergoing a major edit.

When the King is Evil is the first book of a trilogy set in medieval times and tells the story of a prince whose ruthless choice provokes a civil war in Darsinia. Not long after the war ends, a conspiracy of enemies threatens Darsinia in When the Enemy is Near.  In the third book, When the Land is Free, Darsinia may finally enjoy peace while Malechians rebel against their leaders.

I included a synopsis of each book on this site and, if you subscribe, excerpts from each story are available to download. If you’re really intrigued, read the World of Darsinia on the Books page.

I love writing about my Darsinia characters. I think my retirement years will be richer as I write about them and share their stories with you. But, I must strengthen my writing style and technique – hone my new craft – if  I want a traditional publisher. It’s work, but it’s work I enjoy. I want to be a better storyteller. Writing this blog should help.

I’ll write about the pursuit of my new ambition: finding that elusive publisher. If you follow along you might find my successes and failures relatable to the life goal you’re chasing. You’ll be among the first to know when I have a contract. I’ll also write about my goal to be a better woodworker. Spoiler alert: a new workshop is coming. So excited!

Since I hope to build a community of people who might like my books, I’ll write about life events and the fun my family has when we’re together. The family posts will include Astro, our beagle mutt. Based on his popularity on my Facebook page, you’ll like reading about him.

And, I’ll write sometimes about my faith – I’m a follower of Jesus.

I asked myself why anyone who isn’t an author would subscribe to this site, read this blog. I came up with three reasons, four if you count the occasional Astro post. First, most readers are always looking for new authors, new book series in their favorite genre. I believe readers of faith-based historical fiction will find the premise of Darsinia Tales interesting and decide to give the stories a try. Second, woodworking is fun. It can be hilarious, too, when the newbie doesn’t know what he thinks he knows. (I hope you’ll share your advice with me.) Third, sometimes we all need a reminder of how much we’re loved. When I write about my faith here, I’ll use God’s truth to lift your heart.

I hope you’ll subscribe to the site and follow me on Facebook, Instagram and X.

You can contact me via those apps or you can email me. My email link is on the Profile page.
